Alan Petersen of Pathfinder Motorsports (GT40RACING.COM) was at it again last week, representing the brand with his awesome Superformance GT40R race car at the recent Sebring 12 Hour race in Florida. The 59th running of this classic race ended with the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP taking the top spot, followed by the recently upgraded Honda ARX-01e in second and another Peugeot 908 in third. The win in P2 went to the Level 5 Motorsports Lola Honda, while the BMW Motorsports M3 claimed victory in the GTE Pro category and the Krohn Racing Team took GTE Amateur honors in their Ferrari F430GT. It was a great race and a terrific start to the 2011 Intercontinental Le Mans Cup. As exciting as the on-track action was, there were a few cars parked near the track that were just as exciting to watch... even while they were just sitting still.
The Pathfinder Motorsports Superformance GT40R was definitely one of the highlights for fans and fellow racers who got to see the car displayed right near the start/finish line. Alan from Pathfinder also piloted the GT40R during the traditional race car parade into town, where locals got a chance to see the cars up close and personal. A group of about 35 race cars participated this year. They lined up behind the pits Thursday morning for the drive into the town of Sebring for the Heritage Car show, organized by the town's mayor. The police escort was much appreciated by all. A photo of the GT40R with Miss Sebring even made the local paper.
Also on hand and representing Superformance proudly were Tony from Gulf Cost Motor Works and the Olthoff Racing crew. Gulf Coast is a new Superformance dealer and we welcome them to the fold. They were situated in the pit area and were busy answering questions all weekend long about the Superformance lineup. Olthoff Racing a premier installer also their hands full with plenty of race related interest.
GM proudly displayed the all-new Superformance Corvette Grand Sport in the heart of the GM Performance Product booth. The car looked spectacular and attracted a lot of attention. It certainly added a nice historic footnote to the special Corvette display that GM had arranged for the occasion. It was a perfect bookend to the brand new GT2-class C6 ZR1 running the 12 Hour race. As you can probably imagine, the Sebring fans were eating it up.
The Superformance network continues to show great support for the brand, representing the cars and the company proudly at events across the country. We thank them and welcome all of the new Superformance fans they entertain at these events. Make sure you stop by and say hi the next time you're at the races.
