The Superformance Corvette Grand Sport is an officially licensed continuation masterpiece that faithfully recreates the legendary 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport—one of the most coveted and mythical American performance cars ever conceived. Developed under the visionary leadership of Chevrolet chief engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov, the original Grand Sport program began in late 1962 with the ambitious goal of producing 125 purpose-built racecars capable of dominating the GT class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Known internally as the “Lightweight” project, the cars were later christened Grand Sport by Chevrolet marketing as they neared completion. After just five prototypes were completed, General Motors abruptly cancelled the program due to shifting corporate policies on motorsport involvement and ordered the cars destroyed. Against all odds, the Grand Sports survived. Duntov discreetly preserved the first two examples, while chassis numbers 003, 004, and 005 were released to private racers such as John Mecom in Texas—where they went on to achieve remarkable racing success and cement their legendary status despite limited factory support. Superformance, in partnership with General Motors, has created an authentic, modern interpretation of this rare icon. Each Superformance Corvette Grand Sport is offered as a factory-assembled rolling chassis, ready for the engine and transmission of your choice. Whether powered by a Weber-carbureted classic or a modern supercharged LS, this Grand Sport offers the ultimate fusion of 1960s racing heritage and contemporary engineering excellence.
