Gordon McCall's Motor works Revival is considered the big kick off to major festivities surrounding Monterey Car week and this year they certainly didn't disappoint. They had an awesome line up of GT40’s both old and new, a number of modern sports cars and some awesome jets and private air craft. Amongst awesome food flowing drinks and spectacular cars Shelby American unveiled the 50th Anniversary Daytona Coupe. Both the Aluminum and fiberglass models were on display. It was great to socialize with legends like Bob Bondurant, Peter Brock and Alan Grant who were all associated with Shelby and the Daytona Coupe.

On Thursday a number of cars lined up at the Baja Cantina for an informal car show and some good Mexican food. It was packed with a number of old, classic and new cars and bikes.

On Friday 14th August at Quail Lodge this year's themes included Long Tail Cars of Le Mans, Coach built Ferraris, and Iconic Pre-1965 Porsches. This year marked the 50th anniversary of the Shelby GT350 along with the Shelby Daytona Coupe and in uncharacteristic 80 degree weather, former late-night TV host Jay Leno arrived, leading a pack of historic Shelby GT Fords into the Quail under CHP escort. The Quail event is held in the lush setting of a golf course nestled against the Santa Lucia mountain range where you can sip champagne and wander amongst the cars or rest up at one of the gourmet food stations.

Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Shelby GT350 Mustang which was the featured marque. This year's reunion brought together a wide array of machinery from the annuals of racing history. There were lots of Can-Am racers and Porsches but the biggest part of the spectacle was the Shelby GT350. Great timing as Ford has now brought it back. Hillbank a Superformance Dealer had a large display of everything Superformance and Shelby in the vendor area. It was wonderful to have so many owners join the display on the weekend.
