The Classic airport circuit hosted the HSR Fall Classic. After some exciting racing, Saturday’s American International Challenge was won by Dennis Olthoff. Dennis races a Superformance MKII GT40 while another Superformance GT40 MKI belonging to Jim Cullen finished third in this challenge.
Dennis Olthoff is not a stranger to the track and has a number of wins under his belt. His red GT40, MKII was built and prepared by his company Olthoff Racing, who specialize in race preparation and engine installations. His car was originally built as a street car and is powered by a Roush 427 engine and ZF Transaxle.
The HSR Feature Race 1, Group 5 saw Dennis Olthoff leading but on the 6th lap he spun out. This mistake cost him the race and placed him second. This was an exciting and exceptionally close race.
The HSR Feature Race 2, Group 5 was won by Dennis Olthoff in his Superformance GT40 MKII after a hard neck in neck race against Larry Ligas, in the E Type Jaguar, Dennis took the lead. The first place position changed at least 4 times per lap which led to the most exciting race of the weekend. Jim Cullen in his GT40 MKI finished third after making his way up from 7th. Place. Jim set his personal best lap time, which was 6 seconds quicker than his previous Sebring visit.
Congratulations to our Superformance Contenders.
